The future of print was front and center at PRINTING United Expo 2026. Through Student Day, presented in partnership with The Foundation for Graphic Communication Education (The FGCE), 174 students and educators registered to tour the show floor, watch live demonstrations, and meet the professionals behind the technology.
Along the way, they discovered just how many career paths the printing and graphic communications industry has to offer. Women in Print Alliance was proud to be part of their experience.
Sharing Insight with The Industry’s Future Workforce
Women in Print Alliance Director Lisbeth Lyons Black spoke to the Student Day group, addressing both the young women and men in attendance about the opportunities ahead of them in the printing industry.
She noted that in her role she spends “quite a bit of time thinking about attracting the next generation of talent to print,” and while she generally focuses on attracting women students to the workforce, the “printing industry is stronger together” with a wide population of leaders and workers.
Lyons Black noted that research shows companies with diversity in leadership ranks – including gender, race, educational attainment, and ethnicity, among other traits – were brought products to market faster, were more innovative, and created stronger employee engagement and retention than companies that were less diverse.
“As you begin exploring your careers in print, seeking employment with companies that value inclusion will likely associate you with these benefits.”
A Seat at the Table
For the women students, the experience continued at the Women in Print Alliance Annual Networking Luncheon. Each student was seated among women leaders representing every segment of the printing industry and every kind of role, from the production floor to the executive suite.
Over lunch, the students had the chance to ask what these women do day to day, how they built their careers, and what it is really like to be a woman in our industry.
The students also heard the powerful luncheon keynote from Corrie Lo, rounding out an afternoon of conversation, connection, and inspiration.
Building the Future Together
It is one thing to read about career possibilities and another to sit beside the women who are living them. We hope every student left Las Vegas with new connections, fresh ideas about where their careers could go, and the confidence that there is a place for them in print.
We are appreciative of PRINTING United Alliance and The FGCE for opening the door, and to every woman in print who took the time to welcome these students to our community.
