Women in Print Alliance recently hosted its latest Quarterly Connect virtual event, bringing members together for an inspiring conversation about leadership, career growth, and the value of embracing every chapter of your personal and professional journey.
Moderated by Lisbeth Lyons Black, Director of Women in Print Alliance, the session featured special guest Laura Cox Kaplan, creator of the multi-media platform She Said/She Said. Kaplan shared lessons from her own career journey—from serving as a corporate executive at PricewaterhouseCoopers to launching a successful podcast and media platform focused on women, leadership, and public policy.
At the center of the discussion was Kaplan’s powerful concept of “experience equity,” which she described as the unique value individuals accumulate through all of their life experiences—not just the accomplishments listed on a resume.
Kaplan outlined a three-step framework for leveraging experience equity:
- Awareness — identifying and acknowledging the experiences that have shaped you
- Intention — deliberately applying those experiences to future opportunities and goals
- Mindset — learning how to confidently frame and communicate your story
The conversation also explored practical ways attendees can begin auditing their own experience equity through reflection, journaling, and identifying patterns in their personal and professional growth.
