Student debt burden in the US hits women graduates harder than it does their male counterparts. Women (47%) shoulder more student debt than do men (40%), based on those choosing to identify gender on survey data, and women pay down their debt at a rate slower (8%) than men (11%).  (Source: Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis)
