March 8 was International Women’s Day, so the US-based Women in Print Alliance checked in to see what other women’s organizations are doing around the world to attract, advance and advocate for women in print in their respective countries. What we found inspired us and reminded us of the connections, challenges, and opportunities for growth shared globally by women in the printing industry.
Here are a few of those inspirational examples:
In the UK… Sarah Fenna and Izabella Ivanovici have spearheaded Women in Signs and Graphics, a professional community dedicated to bringing women in the signs and graphics industry together to inspire, encourage and promote women in the field while being part of a group of like-minded individuals, sharing ideas.
In Australia… Women in Print Australia is going strong, hosting educational webinars and a series of networking breakfasts under the theme “Count Her In: Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress.” Events are beign held in Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and other metropolitan areas throughout the country.
In India… women continue to be named to executive leadership roles in that country’s label and packaging industry. Check out this blog written and posted by Harveer Sahni, Chairman of Weldon Celloplast Limited in New Delhi, highlighting a number of Indian women and their successful career paths in print.
Are there more global initiatives – formal organizations or grassroots initiatives – out there beyond this list that are elevating women in the printing industry? We bet there are – and we’d love to know about them!
If you’re part of an international effort outside of the United States that shares a mission aligned with Women in Print Alliance (or know of one), please contact us to share.
