Not every new employee enters a printing company with a college degree or career certification in graphic arts. This is particularly true to those assuming roles in sales, finance, HR or other administrative roles outside the scope of print production – or for career switchers coming to print from other industries. For these employees, this introductory course Orientation to the Graphic Arts presented by PRINTING United Alliance’s i-Learning Center is terrific basic education to gain new or updated overall knowledge of the printing industry. It is especially useful for employees of companies with hybrid or remote work operations so that non-production employees are better able to connect with to their manufacturing co-workers by gaining greater understanding of print processes and industry jargon. I’ve personally taken this course twice during my 15+ years advocating for the printing industry, and always offered it to new hires under my management as part of the onboarding process. The three hour online course/knowledge assessments and the $159 (Printing United Alliance member rate)/$199 (non-member rate) is well worth the investment.
